Mindful Practice with Tehroma

I believe in the power of yoga and meditation practice gently inviting the practitioner into a state of embodied grace, strength, balance, flexibility, and ease unique to each individual. This connection opens us to life and its myriad of experience.

All class offerings are grounding, heart centered and mindful, combining movement, stillness and spaces in between. Each session includes pranayama (breathing exercises), asana (physical postures) and guided meditation based on personal experience and techniques learned from revered teachers as well as years of learning from deep listening to my students.

All offerings are based on an ongoing integrated personal journey in yoga and meditation since 2007.  Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 200) since 2015 with diverse offerings for a diverse community: All Levels Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Beginners Yoga, Sunrise Yoga, Mindfulness Meditation and Backmitra® Release & Realign Yoga for Your Spine. Group Classes offered, as well as, Private Sessions or Semi-Private Sessions tailored for the individual or small group of practitioners. I consider myself a lifelong student, training in the art of listening deeply.

A few of my specialties offerings can be found below:

Mindfulness Meditation, the art of paying attention with a gentle awareness and compassion; practicing non-judgemental awareness and relating to the moment to moment experience of being here now with skillfulness; learning how to deepen presence, be with the ups and downs and in betweens of being fully human with a myriad of skills to relate the experience with awareness. Also known as awareness and remembering, the art of mindfulness goes beyond being "in the moment" and teaches us how to relate to the moment, recognizing that each one of us is unique, each moment and day is different.

Restorative-Therapeutic Yoga: the art of deep relaxation and being is the antidote to all the doing in our modern lives. Deep relaxation invites our bodies to replenish our well and tap into a natural sense of ease and wellbeing.

Yin Yoga: the art of letting go, of going deep into the connective tissues of the body and releasing tension through a practice of stillness and feeling the moment deeply.

Yin Yang Flow, a practice of balancing action and inaction, a training of the nervous system to move with grace from activity and engagement to stillness and introspection, from strength and standing to being close to the ground and breathing with ease in every position to the depth and presence that is possible in the moment. This practice is more about how we practice than a parcticular shape we are creating. It is about sensing our bodies, tapping into our experience and bringing a gentle light of awareness to where we feel, as well as, where we do not feel. Embodiment through practiced awareness. Strength, length, connection, grace and ease, even in the challenging poses and moments that present themselves on and off the mat, to the degree that is humanly possible, one moment at a time.

The Backmitra® is a powerful tool! When used to its full capacity, not only do we improve mobility, we also learn to cultivate core awareness, strenghten the midline & deep postural muscles, centering the body and retraining our bodies to move from inner strength, conserving energy and moving with stability, grace and ease. Along with the the physical and therapeutic benefits of assisting in spinal release and increasing mobility in the of spine, shoulders and neck, using the Backmitra for an extended length of time helps to increase our capacity to breathe. The spine naturally extends on the in-breath and flexes on the outbreath. More mobility in the upper back equals more space for the breath. Along with the breath-body benefits, this is a heart opening practice as the upper back and its release leads to more spaciousness, release and openess in the energetic heart center: the chest. And, last but not least, the mind-body benefits: this practice is intentional, movement is conscious and linked with breath which helps slow down the mind for more inner calm, peace and ease.

I believe that heightening our awareness through mindfulness, conscious breathing, embodying our unique experience, cultivating a relationship with our minds, connecting to our heart center and feeling the moment in a grounded way, deepen our connection with all living beings and the earth itself; a gentle practice in compassion, kindness, humanity and unity.
