Our Team
Sukhasana Studio

Tehroma has lived full time in Los Barriles since 1994, having lived here for two years previously for HS creating life long friendships with local families. Tehroma has lived and traveled through Mainland Mexico and was born in Oregon, USA. She has worn many  hats in the construction industry since 1994, Designing and Building Custom Homes since 2003.

Her background in Architecture provides the backbone for Plaza Buenos Aires, home for Sukhasana Studio. She began practicing yoga in 2007 and it was love at first crescent lunge pose, feeling deeply at home in her own heart, body, mind and soul in the practice.

Years of classes, trainings and a strong personal practice resulted in sharing this ancient art & science with others; she has been teaching since 2015. Among the long list of continuing education she has undergone as a life long student, Tehroma completed her first 200 hours of YTT at Yandara Yoga Institute in Todos Santos, specialized in Restorative Yoga through advanced YTT  training at Yoghar Estudio in La Paz and is currently completing a two year long Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program with Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield.

Tehroma is retiring from the world of Architecture to dedicate her work life to the ancient Healing Arts of Thai Massage & Reiki, as well as, teach Mindfulness Meditation and Yoga.

Tehroma loves hiking in the desert, the clear water of the Sea of Cortez, relaxing at home with her family, a good cup of coffee, a house full of pets, rearranging furniture, watching birds in her established desert garden and thoroughly enjoys the art of cooking, trying out new recipes to the delight and good humor of her growing family.

Tehroma believes wholeheartedly in the power of healing, wholeness and feeling at home in the heart, body, mind and soul; a continual integration of all the parts that make one whole: Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Inclusion on an individual level, community and global level.

Jacquie’s childhood was occupied with all things musical. From singing in the church choir, piano lessons
& Royal Conservatory piano exams, to figure skating, tap, jazz and ballet classes and Royal Academy of
Dance ballet exams. Jacquie’s true love was on the dance floor.

Over the years Jacquie competed in many competitions and dance festivals. Jacquie travelled with her show group representing her home town and Province of Southern British Columbia in Canada at the Expo 86 Worlds Fair in Vancouver, B.C. where they performed three times a day for seven days.

After graduation, Jacquie decided to take her love for dance and physical activities to the next level and begin her professional career teaching dance in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia and eventually
relocating back to her hometown of Penticton, B.C. teaching at the local Dance studio.

After the birth of her daughter, Jacquie completed the CFS Canadian Fitness Standards Program offered at her local gym for Group fitness to Music. This in combination to the Aerobics Instructor course she took at Ron Zalko Fitness in Vancouver B.C., Jacquie immediately began teaching a variety of fitness classes from Cardio Funk Dance Aerobics, Floor aerobics, stretch n strength classes, step aerobics and Cardio Kickboxing. Her extensive dance background has allowed Jacquie to adapt and pick up different modules of fitness. And she has now added ‘Barre” to her repertoire which comes so naturally as it’s a ballet-based workout.

Jacquie is thrilled to be here in Los Barilles leading classes again and sharing her passion for fitness. You can find her on the dance floor three days a week here at the studio: Monday 8:00 am Barre, Tuesday 11:00 am for Total Body Strength, and on Thursdays 8:00 am for Barre. You will leave her class feeling
energised and stronger and with a huge smile on your face!

Deborah invites you to become part of her journey...

Deborah traveled from Australia to Canada to expand her knowledge and experience in yoga and meditation. She participated in a 6 month, eyes closed, meditation and yoga retreat called 'Mastery of the Self' in beautiful BC, Canada. She stayed on for a further 2 months & completed the teacher training program.

For the next few years she traveled around the world, as a monk, sharing in, and leading meditation/yoga weekend classes, retreats and workshops.

If you are here because your body has given you a "wake up call", I totally understand.

Early in 2019, I woke up one morning and could not pick anything up with my right hand.  It had seized up and was very painful.

After numerous specialist appointments, they found that my ulnar nerve (in my arm) was damaged. Why? It was a severe,  repetitive strain injury caused by sitting at my nail station desk and continually working on nails. It is the same kind of injury that people get working too much on the computer. Treatment? Acupuncture and a regular yoga practice!

I completed my 200hr yoga teacher training program with the North American School of Yoga Science (British Columbia, Canada) in July 2019 and became a registered certified yoga instructor. Since then, I have also completed training and certification in Yin Yoga March, 2020.  Chair Yoga, October, 2019. Pranayama and Meditation December 2020. Acu-Yoga March 2021. I have also completed my 300hr yoga teacher training with Wind of Prana (Colorado, USA) in April 2021. Yoga Nidra, June 2010.  My studies continue as becoming a yoga teacher has no ending.  I also am a Reiki Master and love the healing arts.

I look forward to meeting you soon at one of my offerings at Sukhasana Studio.

May you be happy and healthy,

Namaste

Deborah
