Custom Homes

Desert Rose
is home to very dear friends and clients for whom we had the pleasure of working with for twenty years. We built their first home in Buenos Aires, a place they enjoyed with their family until it was time to downsize and move into a one story dwelling. Desert Rose shows how seamless an addition can be. View the gallery and see if you can identify the old and the new.

Casa OM

Built in 2011, Casa OM brings mid century modern living into the 21st century.  A small single story home for ease in living. The design blends the iconic style of Frank Lloyd Wright with Richard Neutra. Generous cantilever overhangs offer comfortable outdoor living both on beachside and courtyard no matter what the weather brings. Mature coco palms pass through the roof on three sides of the home, instill a feeling of earth bound well being.

Wright’s term “organic architecture” where design instills a sense harmony with humanity is a fitting description of what it is like to live at Casa OM. The home is made of brick by local artisans. The thermodynamic quality of the brick is noticeable. The home is inherently warmer in the winter months and cooler in the summertime when compared with concrete block homes. The earth friendly brick, with minimal carbon footprint, is an added benefit.

This home owner is shameless when it comes to boasting about the small and humble brick home designed by Tehroma and built by Javier and for good reason. Ten years later the house has hardly aged. This speaks to the quality of the construction and the durability of design. Every year living here makes one long for many more of the same. The space instills its namesake, a feeling of OM.

Sonrisa

This Gem of a home sits on the hill and inspires a smile every time its owners arrive. The kitchen itself a jewel box of functional beauty and charm. Custom made built in tiled gas burning stove cooks slowly, medium or quickly. Decorative hood above custom range lights up the meals cooking below - or the buffet of food served over unlit flames. A concrete arch frames the entry and transition between kitchen and family room adjacent and north. Pass window next to stove connects wind protected outdoors and indoors. Cozy for two or gathering of more. Walk through French doors on the east and step into a sunken outdoor kitchen, built in BBQ chimney with counter surrounds and surprising backsplash, casting light on morning surfaces outdoors.

One Hermosa Place
Thanks Tehroma!  The house is so beautiful!  I so much appreciate Javier and you building such a wonderful home!  Doug Layman, owner
One Hermosa Place is one of a kind. Designed and built on a long narrow beach front lot, it houses three master suites, indoor outdoor connections and a beautiful swimming pool with a bubbling spa. Designed for privacy and connection to the water, sky and mountains beyond and visible from upstairs looking west. This beautiful home lends itself to a romantic getaway for two to bustling gatherings of family and friends. Versatile and malleable, as a contemporary home design should be. Elegant and rustic. Unique, beautiful and livable, inside and out.

Houses of Houses

After building our 1st house in Los Barriles, there could only be one contractor we could hire.  Tehroma Lask and Javier Cota of UBL did such a fine job on our beach house 13 years ago, that we had to hire them again for this marina house.  Now if only the marina would get out of our way so we could complete this project.  If you want the very best--hire them, UBL is the very best.  Thanks Tehroma and Javier for being our friends, and contractors.

Las Acacias

Has been built and grown along the lines our family has built and grown itself. It is as eclectic in its style as we are ourselves. It is colorful, cheerful, yet serene in the midst of all the architectural details, movement in lines and overall design. It is also a place where we experiment on finishes and ideas before we apply them to our client’s homes. It is a living work of art. It is our home.

Hacienda el Encanto

Of our hacienda, my father felt that one could walk the property for a month and keep discovering subtle details. He described our home, the surrounding sea and mountains, the lifestyle, as "salubrious". He was spot-on and as I sit here in Alaska listening to the heavy rain, watching the yellow leaves fall and the mountaintops turn white, my mind wanders south…to Los Barriles. A house is not a home. A home is where the heart is and Los Barriles has become our treasured second home. Thank you wise Javier, creative Tehroma, and your smiling artisan crew. Our hacienda, that we all poured so much energy into, is truly a rock-solid work of art!

Casa Loma

One of the most amazing features of the home Tehroma and Javier designed and built for us is its connection to the outdoors.  Each window in every room is placed to take advantage of the marvelous views.  Some windows are placed as if to perfectly frame a painting.  We enjoy the beautiful changes in the lighting on the Sierra Laguna Mountain range to the west and the amazing sunrises on the Sea of Cortez to the east.  The rooftop deck took our breath away when we first saw the completed house.  The attention to detail and the craftsmanship provided by Tehroma and Javier's talented crew makes our home a delight.  We marvel at the satillo tiles which pave our home with almost unbelievable skill and precision.  We are so grateful to have had an opportunity to work with Tehroma and Javier and their entire crew.  The house welcomes us every time we enter. The finished house is truly our home.
